Information about CRP-Vukovar


Civil Rights Project - Vukovar (CRP-Vukovar) is a domestic NGO that provides free legal assistance to refugees, internally displaced persons, returnees, and minority groups in Eastern Slavonia.

CRP-Vukovar was registered in December 2003; its members were employees of international NGO called Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) that has been providing its services in Vukovar, Croatia since mid 90s in last century.

As NRC closed down its operation in Croatia at the end of 2004, CRP-Vukovar has continued providing same activity – free legal aid to mentioned vulnerable groups – beneficiaries who had been NRC beneficiaries before. The need for such assistance through domestic NGO was deemed highly important.

 

The main activities of the CRP-Vukovar are:

  • Informing of beneficiaries,

  • Counselling

  • Free legal assistance in administrative and court proceedings, including free in-court representation through external retained lawyers, and

  • Advocacy

The target groups of assistance are:

  • Refugees in area of Ex-Yugoslavia,

  • Internally displaced persons in Croatia,

  • Returnees to Croatia, and

  • Minority groups

Civil Rights Project – Vukovar has finished 11 different legal-aid based projects so far sponsored by different international and domestic donators.

Civil Rights Project - Vukovar is composed of three members – its employees, one lawyer and two legal assistances. They all deal with the beneficiaries and run activities in the office.

Civil Rights Project - Vukovar is situated in Vukovar where provides its activity and shares premises with another domestic NGO Centre for Peace, Legal Assistance and Psycho-social help Vukovar.
